I am a Christian and I am spiritual. People act like those two things cancel each other out. They don’t.
I believe in God. I follow Jesus. I also spend a lot of time on an internal, personal journey to find meaning and connection to something greater than myself. I follow moral rules, holy texts, and established church doctrine. I also lean on inner wisdom, open ended exploration, and personal experience. Both things are true at once.
I don’t worship other gods. But I do pull practices and moral lessons from other religions. I like reading different perspectives on life through different faiths and spiritual traditions. Learning how other people find meaning doesn’t threaten my faith. It deepens it.
On Horoscopes and Crystals
I read horoscopes when I want to learn more about myself. I don’t believe the daily readings, because every app and every astrologer says something different. I am fearfully and wonderfully made, and I still like tools that help me understand myself better.
I don’t care much about what crystals are supposed to mean. I wear them because some of them are pretty. That’s it. That’s the whole reason.
On the Bible
The Bible was written by man. There are probably missing chapters, details that were never recorded, and more to these stories than what made it to the page. I still read my Bible. Not every day. Sometimes with opinions that aren’t popular in church. If you’re starting out, start with the New Testament.
On Questioning God
I am not afraid to question God’s decisions. I am a curious woman. I try to seek the meaning behind everything. If the Lord is my father, he would want me to be curious. He would want me to ask why things are the way they are.
Some Christians weaponize God’s anger to shut down that questioning. I don’t believe that’s the point of faith.
On People of Faith
It’s better to know someone of faith than someone with none at all. I admire people of faith, regardless of religion. When I meet them, they tend to carry more optimism, more wisdom, more trust in uncertainty. They carry inner peace.
That doesn’t mean an atheist can’t be peaceful. But by observation and by instinct, I often sense a wider void in people without faith. A disturbance. Something unsettled. That doesn’t change how I treat them. It’s just what I notice.
On Converting Others
It is not my job to convince, change, or convert anyone to Christianity or to Jesus. That journey belongs to the individual. Everyone’s path to Christ looks different. Some people find him early. Some find him years later. Some never do. That’s between them and God, not me.
What Christianity Means to Me
Christianity is both religious and spiritual. God the Father is the creator and the source. Jesus is God in human form, who saved humanity. The Holy Spirit is God’s presence, living and working inside believers. The Holy Spirit is the helper, the guide. It gives comfort, shows what is right, helps people understand truth, and lives inside everyone who follows God.
I Am Not a Perfect Christian
I don’t pray every day. I don’t read my Bible every day. I don’t always want to go to church, unless I’m serving that day. I have sins. I have vices. I’m working on them, continuously, and I’m not ashamed to say so.
Faith was never about being perfect. It was about staying curious, staying honest, and staying in the conversation.
